Everything is in motion

The earth is spinning on its axis at about 1,000 miles per hour. In addition to that motion the earth is orbiting the sun at about 67,000 miles per hour. The sun, the earth, and the entire solar system are orbiting around the center of our galaxy at about 504,000 miles per hour. The Milky Way galaxy itself is moving through the wider universe at about 90,000 miles per hour. The cells in your body regenerate daily by the billions. Everything is in motion. 

Evolution, God’s technique for creation, is life in motion, growing and complexifying, over time. We, human beings, are the part of evolution that is conscious of the growth and motion and able to reflect on what it’s like and what it means to be active participants in all the motion. I sometimes think it’s the greatest gift and privilege, an enormous honor, to be alive at this time in history. We know that everything is motion and therefore we can choose to be a productive part of the growth. What a magnificent adventure we’re on! We don’t have to be stuck on old ideas and old ways of doing things. Instead we can honor and build on the old ways, including all the best parts and letting go of the worst parts. There’s no such thing as stuck anyway. Literally, stuck at a standstill is not a thing! Everything is in motion.
