Serving the Lexington Community

OUTREACH OPPORTUNITY INFORMATION

September is National Recovery Month and Good Shepherd Church is partnering with Chrysalis House, a local organization that supports mothers in recovery.  Chrysalis House started in 1978 and is Kentucky’s oldest and largest licensed residential treatment program for women with substance use disorders.  Chrysalis House is unique in that it allows women to keep their infants and toddlers with them while in treatment.

We invite parishioners to support the 45 women and children who are reside at Chrysalis House in three specific ways:

  1. By donating practical supplies for the women and children who reside at Chrysalis House.

    • Women’s hygiene items, new twin sheets, new twin comforters, new twin pillows, diapers, wipes, and baby toiletry items.

  2. By serving breakfast to the residents and their children during a Chrysalis House Recovery Workshop on September 21, 8:30-11:30 am.  We need a total of five volunteers.  Go HERE to sign up to volunteer.

  3. By contributing financially to the Chrysalis House.  Go HERE to make a financial donation.

We invite parishioners to donate one or more pairs of pajamas in memory of precious Zac, a young parishioner who died in 2017 at the age of 4. We will donate the pajamas we collect to the Kentucky Children's Hospital. All children's sizes of new pajamas work well. We will be collecting pajamas from September 15 -October 15.
