Centering Prayer

“We rarely think of the air we breathe, yet it is in us and around us all the time. In similar fashion, the presence of God penetrates us, is all around us, is always embracing us.” -Thomas Keating

    When and Where?

Mondays at 5pm│ In the Worship Space

On Mondays, we offer instruction in the Centering Prayer method before the 5pm sit. Following the 5pm sit, we offer a ‘Reading the Mystics’ class at 5:30pm. Click Here to Learn more about the Mystics Reading Group

Thursdays at 7:30am and 7:55am│ In the Worship Space

Our time together includes a 20-minute silent sit. Following this sit, we will have a short, meditative walk in the worship space before we begin another sit at 7:55am. You are welcome to come to either or both sits.

  • What?

Centering Prayer is a form of silent prayer (meditation) which invites us to rest in silence to deepen our relationship with God. Each session begins with a silent sit, and then we will listen to a short teaching.

The source of Centering Prayer, as in all methods leading to contemplative prayer, is the Indwelling Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

If you would like to learn more about Centering Prayer, including instruction and the method, please feel free to reach out to Good Shepherd Parishioner, Woody Snowden or Father Hendree.
