Rebecca Mercer│Liaison to Youth and Newcomers

I am a lifelong Episcopalian. I attended Christ Church and St. Raphael’s during my childhood here in Lexington. During my undergrad studies in Chapel Hill I attended the Chapel of the Cross on the UNC campus. After moving to Atlanta to pursue post graduate studies, I attended St. Phillips Cathedral where my God daughter and God son were both baptized. When I lived in Vail, Colorado I attended the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration and participated in Godly Play as a volunteer.

I moved back to Kentucky in 2008 and started attending Good Shepherd where I immediately felt at home. My husband and I were married with Mother Elise Johnston officiating in 2010 and we both officially joined in 2011. Soon after, my brother’s family started attending and we all had our children baptized at Good Shepherd under Father Brian Cole. My parents joined within months.

I am a physician assistant in orthopedics and am married to my husband Stuart who owns a local

clothing business. We have an 11-year-old daughter named Hatto who is a member of the choristers and attends Sunday night EYC. We are grateful for Good Shepherd and the love it has shown our family as well as the community.
