Distillation - notes from the path

If I struggle with being kind to my neighbor, it is because I have not yet accepted the infinite kindness of God that is constantly coming my way.

+

God is not more present in silence, but you are more available.

+

All anger is rooted in the fear that you’re not loved.
+

You have a silent center, a room inside your own heart where you and God are not other than each other. It is impossible to find, but you can be led there. Once inside you will never want to leave.

+

Forgiveness is the key to the prison cell in which you’re living. The key is in the lock, just reach out and turn it.
+

Jealousy is the fear that someone will take your place. What makes jealousy so insidious is that one day, maybe sooner than you think, someone will take your place.
+

If we disagree, but our first commitment is to love one another at all costs, then our disagreement is stripped of its power and bears little relevance to the moment.
+

If I leave the fellowship at the first hint that there are boundaries here, then that says a lot about how loosely my peace is tethered to love.
+

Some people never take aim. Sinners have taken aim, they’ve just missed the mark, that’s all.

+

Meditation is agreeing to spend time with God for no reason.
+

Lots of people can work really hard and are financially secure, productive and respected citizens, but they are miserable, teetering on the precipice of constant dissatisfaction and sadness, because they have no idea if they are loved.

+

Until I fully accept the unconditional love of God for myself, then it will be impossible for me to love you unconditionally.
