Chapter 28
“Everything you love for its own sake, outside of God alone, destroys your judgment…”
Rigidity and formalism prevent one from being truly detached.
Attachment to spiritual things is attachment all the same and may be worse than attachment to material things
Clinging to spiritual consolations stunts one’s growth
God asks us simply to quietly be attentive to the work He is doing within us.
“The secret of interior peace is detachment.”
Seek only God’s will.
“True contemplation is the work of a love that transcends all satisfaction and all experience to rest in the night of pure and naked faith.”
