1. Commentary on the line “inflamed by love longing”

2. In the midst of the purifying pain the soul finds herself madly in love with God.  It is an infused love - an action of God. the soul simply                       consents.

3. The soul’s old desires have been shut down

4. God continues to wean the soul off of all cravings and beings to give pure love to the soul which she begins to give God back in return.

5. Still the soul remains in darkness and doubt

6. She is lost and in the darkness “she senses a certain companion deep inside herself.”
