1. The pure of heart are called blessed because they are in love

4. Contemplation infuses the soul with love and wisdom in proportion to her capacity and need

5. Divine light illumines the human soul by plunging her into darkness

6. Over time the inflow will be more gently but in the early days it is painful

8. Spiritual purification necessarily purges the soul before setting it on fire with love

9. As darkness purges the mind it also wounds it with sacred knowledge

10. There is a bare hint of union here

11. There is an unpredictability to how/when God infuses the soul with love and understanding
