Book Two: Night of the Spirit│Chapter 21

1. On the journey the soul wears a disguise with 3 component parts - faith, hope and charity.  She wears the disguise to please and charm the               Beloved and to be invisible to the world, the animal nature, and the devil.

2. Faith protects the soul from the devil, hope protects the soul from worldly things, and charity protects the soul from the animal nature

3. These 3 virtues prepare the mind, memory, and will for union with God; they also separate the soul from all that is less than God.
