1. The dark night purges spiritual lust from the beginner

2. “Whatever is received comes into the receiver after the manner of that receiver.”

3. The beginner is a target of the Fallen One and can become afraid and quit praying.

4. Beginners can become easily distracted by vanity 

5. “Love that is connected to the senses ends up in sensuality while love that blossoms in the spirit stays with spirit and grows deeper.”
