Chapter 14

  1. This chapter explains the line - my house at last grown still

  2. When desire for sensory gratification is stilled, then the soul sets out on the Illuminative Way (also called the Way of Infused Contemplation) - God is nurturing the soul without the active participation of the discursive mind

  3. The devil will try to reignite the sensory desire with strong temptations.

  4. At times, a dark spirit will come upon the soul and spread a disorienting darkness on the senses. This can be horrifically challenging

  5. Not everyone goes through same temptations

  6. All of this is preparation for union in love

  7. God may refresh ones senses along the way so that they will not give up

  8. All of this is so that we will finally train our attention solely on God.
